Major Averages Lingering Near Unchanged Line Going Into Final Hour
Friday November 06, 2009 14:59:00 EST

(RTTNews) - Stocks continue to turn in a lackluster performance going into the final hour of trading on Friday, with the major averages lingering near the unchanged line after failing to sustain any significant moves throughout the trading session.

While most of the major sectors are also showing only modest moves, significant strength is visible among airline stocks. Benefiting from a steep drop by the price of oil, the NYSE Arca Airline Index is currently up 4.1 percent.

Notable strength is also visible among gold, retail, and health insurance stocks, although the gains are being offset by weakness in the real estate, electronic storage, and energy sectors.

With an hour left in the trading day, the major averages are currently turning in a mixed performance. The Nasdaq is currently up 2.07 at 2,107.39, while the Dow is down 4.68 at 10,001.28 and the S&P 500 is down 0.27 at 1,066.36.
